HÁJÍČKOVÁ, Andrea

It offers an insight into social work with families where biological, psychological or social development of children can be threatened. Parental competence is related to fulfilling functions of family and satisfaction of needs of all family members. The aim of this work is to describe how social workers support and develop parental competence when working with vulnerable families and children. In accordance with the aim of the work, the author defined two research questions which focus on how social workers approach and influence parental competence of their clients. In her research, the author used qualitative approach which provided deeper understanding of social workers' intervention in vulnerable families. The research involved survey and semi-controlled interviews. To assessed the collected data, the method of data classification was used. The analysis of the obtained data has shown that it is essential to develop principals of family support which are reflected in the relationship between social workers and families. Only then support can be provided. Social workers should strive to build trust, approach families with respect, empathy, authenticity, without prejudice and in certain cases with sufficient authority. In their interactions with families, social workers should act as partners, motivate clients towards change and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. To develop and support parental competence, it is important to create a support system and define desired patterns of collaboration. Social workers should provide not only information but also support, help, and alternative perspective on the situation to empower their clients. That can be achieved by accompanying families, providing practical training, mediating contact with social environment, providing professional assistance etc. This should be done so that client's will to learn and change their behaviour leads to successful acquisition of parental competence. Findings of this work can serve as a feedback for social workers.

Men on parental leave from the perspective of social workers.
VIKTOROVÁ, Romana
The thesis focuses on the issue of men on the parental leave from the point of view of the social workers whose profession brings them to these men most often. The social workers are able to assess the extent of the fathers involvement in the everyday care of the minor children and by that adequately evaluate the appropriateness of man's use of the parental leave. Our society puts emphasis on the gender equality and the child care is now being a matter of both parents. Anyhow, due to the gender stereotypes still existing in the society, different attitude towards females and males has developed. Even though such division does not always match setting, interests or needs of the particular individual, people are often being misled by the gender identity. The social workers should take into account the individuals characteristics, abilities and opinion, before succumbing to the notion of the natural behaviour. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out how men on the parental leave are being perceived by the social workers focused on the family and children. Based on the research, the questions should be answered, if the attitudes of the social workers towards men on the parental leave are stereotyped, if the social workers are opened to the alternatives of the parental care or if they support the traditional distribution of roles in the society. To get the needed data, the qualitative research and the technique of the in-depth interview had been used. The research group consisted of 7 social workers focused on family and children from České Budějovice. The research showed that the respondents are mostly positive about men on the parental leave. Although they find it less usual, they do not see any problem in men taking care of the children. All the respondents agreed on the importance of the agreement between the parents and on the necessity of acceptance of different opinions.
